Brigitte Geller

The Swiss soprano studied singing at the Basle Music Academy and the International Opera Studio Zurich. Her work at the Zurich opera house and the Theater Heidelberg led her to the Komische Oper Berlin, where she has been a member of the ensemble since 1998, interpreting important parts of the lyrical mode, including Sophie in »The Knight of the Rose«, Mimi in »La Bohème«, and Ilia in »Idomeneo«. She sang for the Innsbruck Festival of Ancient Music and the Dresden Music Festival and participated in concerts of the MDR Chamber Philharmonic under Howard Arman, the RIAS Chamber Choir, the English Baroque Soloists under John Eliot Gardiner, the Academy for Ancient Music Berlin, the Carl Philipp Emanuel Bach" Chamber Orchestra, the Cologne Concerto, and the Dresden Baroque Orchestra. In 2008, she was a guest singer for the Antwerp Vocal Ensemble under Marcus Creed, and sang Handel's Brockes Passion in Antwerp, Gent, Oslo, and Cologne. At the Aalto-Theater Essen, she performed in Beethoven's »Missa solemnis« and debuted at the Teatro La Fenice under Eliahu Inbal, performing as the Wife in Schönberg's »From Today to Tomorrow«. In 2009, she also performed at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, playing the part of Konstanze in »The Abduction from the Seraglio«.

Hans Christian Andersen’s fairytale about lies, self-deception and vanity becomes a lively satirical musical comedy in the hands of Czech composer Miloš Vacek (1928 – 2012).
Wehope our programme will arouse considerable interest, and as always we extend ahearty welcome to all visitors at the Komische Oper Berlin.
William Shakespeare’s tragicomic drama about jealousy in the kingdom of the fairies, confused lovers, lust – and the frustration of being a great big donkey…
